16th/17th c. Chinese Gilt Bronze Figure of Zhenwu - Chinese Ming Dynasty gilt lacquered bronze figure of the Taoist deity Zhenwu, 16th to 17th century. He is portrayed seated with his hands on his knees - the right in apana mudra. His long hair is combed back smoothly and his armor is cast with a dragon. Red painted accession numbers along the base ”O.L.93.13.” With a modern small gilt box as a stand for the statue to rest upon. Height: 11 3/4 in x width: 8 in x depth: 5 1/4 in. Condition: No major bends, breaks, losses, or restorations. Only remnants of the gilt lacquer decoration remain. Wear to the display box.
