2 Lrg 20th c. Chinese Cloisonne Astrological Vases - Set of two large Chinese cloisonne baluster vases, 20th century. Each with enameled cartouches depicting scholarly settings with astrological tools, instruments, and forms such as an astrolabe, armillary sphere, and globe marked with various constellations. The shoulder with band depicting each of the zodiac signs, surrounded by scrolling foliate motifs, clouds, and cranes in flight on emerald green ground. (Each) Height: 20 1/2 in x diameter: 9 in. Condition: There are no large breaks. To one vase, there is a small loss to the enamel along the shoulder and the handles are slightly loose; to the second vase, there is a small loss to the enamel along the lower lobe of the vase. Light tarnishing to the metal. Along the underside of one vase, there is a hairline crack to the enamel.
