Pr Chinese Guangxu or PRC Famille Verte Vases - Pair of Chinese Guangxu or Republic period porcelain famille verte vases of baluster form, 20th century. With cartouches depicting avian forms amongst profuse foliate motifs. Provenance: By repute, purchased in China, ca. 1947-1950; thence by descent. (Each) Height: 24 in x diameter: 9 3/4 in. Condition: To one of the vases, there are extensive restorations, including repaired breaks along the body, shoulder, and neck. Many of the restored breaks with residual adhesive, particularly visible along the interior of the vase. There are chips and losses to the glaze along the footrim. To the other vase, there is a loss and signs of restoration to one of the foliate elements along one of the central cartouches. Small scattered areas fluoresce under UV light, particularly along the footrim. A few chips along the footrim. To each, there is some wear to the glaze, including minute to small losses. A few small, rounded firing flaws. Light dust and debris gathered along the interior.
