Pair 18th c. Chinese Export Famille Rose Plates - Pair of late 18th c. Chinese export famille rose soup plates. Center scene painted with chrysanthemums, peonies, and plum blossoms; floral border along the plate rim. Unmarked. The Metropolitan Museum of Art retains a similar plate within their collection dated 1765-1770, object number: 42.87.3. This soup plate, and other comparable plates, in their collection were part of a larger service that descended in the Verplanck family of New York. (Each) Diameter: 9 in. Condition: To one plate, there are three small chips to the rim. Light wear to the gilt. Possible sign of restoration along the underside. To the other plate, there is a large repaired crack along the center. Some minute chips along the rim. Light wear to the gilt. There are some light accretions along the rims of both plates.
