Set 13 Chinese 20th c. Sgraffito Porcelain Dishes - Set of thirteen Chinese blue-glazed sgraffito porcelain tea ware dishes, 20th century. Including: three teacups, four saucers, three scalloped dessert plates, and three scalloped lunch plates. Each depicting two dragons chasing a flaming pearl. Several pieces with a stamped six-character ”Guangxu” mark; several with a four-character iron-red mark along the underside. Provenance: Purchased in China, ca. 1947-1950; thence by descent. (Teacups, each) Height: 2 in x width: 4 1/4 in x diameter: 3 1/2 in. (Saucers, each) Diameter: 5 1/2 in. (Smaller plates, each) Diameter: 7 3/4 in. (Larger plates, each) Diameter: 8 3/4 in. Condition: To one of the teacups, there is a repaired break near the handle, which curves downwards from the rim to the lower portion of the body, and then upward to another portion of the rim. To another teacup, there are two toned hairline cracks, each extends downward from the rim approximately 1 1/2 inch; there is a small chip along the rim, radiating from one of the hairline cracks. The footrim of one teacup has been reduced. To the other two teacups, there are fleabite to moderate chips along the footrims. To two of the saucers, there are hairline cracks along the rim, each extending downward approximately 1 inch: one saucer with four hairline cracks, and one saucer with a hairline crack and a small corresponding chip. There are fleabite to small-sized chips along the footrims. To one of the smaller plates, there are two hairline cracks along the rim, which extend downward: one measuring approximately 1 1/2 inch, the other approximately 1 inch. There are fleabite to moderate chips along the footrims. To one of the larger plates, there is a small chip along the rim. To one of the larger plates, there is a hairline crack along the rim, extending downward approximately 1 inch, and large chip along the footrim. Fleabite chips along the footrims; one of the larger plates with a large chip along the footrim. To each of the pieces, there are light scratches and accretions. Some small rounded and linear firing flaws. There are small scattered losses to the glaze.
