Chinese Qing Polychrome Wood Nuo Theater Mask - Chinese Qing dynasty carved wood with gesso and polychrome pigment nuo or nuoxi theatrical mask depicting a smiling buddha figure. Provenance: Purchased in Guilin, China; Private Minnesota Collection. Height: 10 1/2 in x width: 6 in x depth: 3 1/2 in. Condition: There are scattered losses, areas of flaking, and wear to the pigment throughout. There are some chips to the wood along the extreme edges, primarily the lower edge. No splits. Light dust gathered along the interior.
