Chinese Official's Wicker Hat w/ Box - Chinese official's wicker hat with metal finial. Red hair flows down from the finial. With a leather hat box. The hat box marked along the interior. (Hat) height: 7 1/2 in x width: 11 1/2 in. (Case) height: 10 1/4 in x diameter: 12 in. Condition: There are narrow losses to the caning along one quadrant of the rim. There are several losses, areas of shattering, and tears to the crown along the interior of the hat. Verdigris patination and areas of flaking to the finial. The hair is slightly brittle. Heavy wear to the box including toning to the lining, losses along the inner rim, evidence of glue repair to one quadrant of the inner rim, and some scuffs, scratches, areas of flaking, and crazing to the exterior.
