Chinese Qing Rosewood Official's Stationery Chest - Chinese rosewood stationery, jewelry, or storage box, Qing dynasty. Commonly used by high-ranking officials for the storage of personal items. Featuring four drawer compartments, a hinged lid, and ornate hardware. Height: 12 in x width: 14 in x depth: 12 in. Condition: There are large lossed to the wood along each of the rear extreme edges and the front right edge. There is a horizontal split spanning the length of the lid and a second smaller split forming along the front edge. There are uneven areas of toning and discoloration to the lid. Separation to the joints throughout, especially along the three planks comprising the interior of the lowest drawer. Light warping to the wood, leading the lowest drawer to move with some resistance. Tarnishing to the metal components.
