Chinese Qing Horseshoe-Back Ancestor Armchair - Chinese Qing dynasty carved wood horseshoe-back quanyi arm chair. Featuring three relief panel carvings along the central back splat. The upper panel depicting a scholar sitting at his desk with a scroll accompanied by his attendant. The middle panel depicting a seated official as he watches an entertainer dance in a courtyard setting. The lowest panel depicting a moth or butterfly. With intricate openwork carvings along the apron and sides of the central back splat. Height: 39 1/4 in x width: 26 in x depth: 25 1/2 in. Condition: The chair is structurally sound and stable. There are no losses to the reticulated elements. Along the top rail, there is a bit of separation to one joint along the right side. There is a small crack, measuring approximately 1 1/2 inches, along the base of the splat. Along the front of the seat, there is a horizontal split in the wood. There is an area of discoloration along the front of the woven seat. Some light scratches throughout. Light wear to the feet.
