Literati Chinese Scroll Ink Painting ca. 18th c. - Wenren literati Chinese scroll with ink wash painting on paper, ca. 18th century. Depicting a pair of wild geese resting along the shoreline. Signed along the upper right corner; two iron red stamps along the upper right corner. Sheet; height: 29 3/4 in x width: 19 1/4 in. Matted; height: 30 1/4 in x width: 19 1/2 in. Condition: The sheet is unevenly toned. There are creases throughout. There is a tide line and signs of moisture exposure along the lower third of the work. There are several repaired tears throughout, including a repaired vertical tear along the upper center, a repaired horizontal tear along the upper third, a repaired small tear along the center of the work, and a repaired moderate tear along the lower third. Scattered small areas of soiling throughout. There is some shattering and a tear to the silk bordering the right edge of the work. The work is laid to a board. The work is not framed.
