Meissen Purple-Ground Teapot ca. 1730 - Meissen, Germany. Porcelain purple-ground bullet shaped teapot with cover, ca. 1730. Painted in the manner of Johann Gregor Herold with a harbor and country scenes in quatrefoil cartouches. Gilder mark âKâ along the underside with blue crossed swords mark. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 4 1/4 in x width: 7 in x diameter: 4 in. Condition: There is a linear firing flaw along the underside, which is also visible from the interior. There are a few fleabite chips along the interior rim of the lid, noticeable upon touch. There are a few small chips to the floral finial along the lid. Along the handle and spout, there are some losses to the gilt. Some light scratches throughout. Light wear to the footrim, including fleabite chips.
