Meissen Octagonal Two-Handled Cup w/ Saucer - Meissen, Germany. Porcelain octagonal two-handled cup and saucer, ca. 1730. Painted with Chinoiseries scenes within Gittenverk rims. Blue crossed swords along the underside. Provenance: Sotheby's, London, October 9, 1984, Lot 177; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Saucer) Diameter: 4 3/4 in. (Teacup) Heigth: 2 in x width: 4 1/4 in x diameter: 2 3/4 in Condition: There are a few fleabite to small-sized chips along the rim of the saucer. To the teacup, there is a hairline crack along one handle. A few fleabite chips along the footrim of the teacup. To each of the pieces, there is wear to the gilt and pigment. Three labels affixed.
