2 English Swan Sauceboats Prob. Coalport ca. 1870 - Probably Coalport, England. Pair of two swan form sauceboats or planters, ca. 1870. Painted black with partially opened wings Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Smaller) Height: 5 1/2 in x width: 7 1/2 in x depth: 5 in. (Larger) Height: 6 in x width: 7 in x depth: 4 3/4 in. Condition: There are extensive restorations to each of the swans, particularly to the necks, left wings, and tails. To each, there are hairline cracks along the inner right wing. To the slightly smaller swan, there are hairline cracks along the base. To each, there are small scattered losses to the glaze. Some crazing to the glaze, noticeable along the undersides. There are white and brown accretions. There is some dust accumulated along the interior of each swan.
