Pair Samson Swan Figures - Samson, Paris. Pair of Louis XV style porcelain models of swans mounted to gilt bronze rococo bases, ca. late 19th century. Modelled with necks held aloft on green mound bases. Provenance: Christie's, New York, ”European Porcelain and Pottery, ” November 29, 1979, Lot 8; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 5 1/2 in x width: 6 in x depth: 6 in. Condition: There are no large breaks, losses, or signs of repair. Along one of the swan's necks, there is a linear and vertical firing flaw, measuring approximately one inch. To the green grass of this same figure there is a small loss to the paint layer. There is a very small firing flaw to the base of the neck of the other swan. Each figure is mounted to a gilt metal base.
