Pr German Vulture Figures as Candelabra ca. 1870 - Pair of German porcelain models of vultures mounted to ormolu three-branch candelabra, ca. 1870. Each bird naturalistically modelled with outstretched wings and perched on a rockwork base with applied flowers and tufts of grass. Set onto Louis XVI style circular ormolu base raised on scroll feet. A cornucopia issuing from a flower-form terminal applied to the rockwork, extending up beside the bird and extending into three branches, each terminating in a candle sconce. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 25 1/2 in x width: 10 1/2 in x depth: 7 1/4 in. Condition: To each of the figurines, there are some small chips and losses, particularly along the applied foliate elements and the extreme edges of the brown bird's wings. There are restorations to the bird with the purple head, particularly along the bird's throat, it is likely the head has been reattched. To each of the figurines, there is a loss along the verso of the white boulder. To the statue of the brown bird, the figurine is slightly loose. Some areas of tarnishing to the metal components. Along the interior of the cups, there are areas of verdigris patination.
