Pr Derby Porcelain Finch Figurines - Derby, England. Pair of porcelain models of finches on tree stumps encrusted with flower sprays, ca. 1765. Patch marks to the underside. Very similar to a Goldfinch figure in the collection of The V&A (AN 414:229-1885) made by William Duesbury & Co. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 4 3/4 in x width: 3 3/4 in x depth: 2 1/2 in. Condition: To each of the figurines, there are small chips and losses to the applied foliate elements. To each, there are repaired cracks to one of the bird's legs. To one of the figurines, there is a horizontal firing flaw along the upper section of the tree trunk. Light crazing to the glaze. Light wear to the undersides, including some fleabite chips.
