Meissen Billing Doves Model ca. 1738 - Meissen, Germany. Modelled by J.J. Kandler. Porcelain model of a pair of billing doves, ca. 1738. Painted with white, purple-brown, and gray feathers. Standing on a mound with applied flowers. Provenance: Sotheby's, London, October 9, 1984, Lot 222; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 3 3/4 in x width: 5 in x depth: 4 1/4 in. Condition: There are some chips, breaks, and losses, ranging from small to moderate in size, to the floral petals and leaves along the base, the tail feathers of the doves, the beaks of the doves, and to the talons. Light wear to the pigment including some small scratches along the breasts of the doves.
