Pr Meissen Models of Pheasants ca. 1735 - Meissen, Germany. Modelled by J.J. Kandler. Pair of porcelain models of pheasants, ca. 1735. The hen amongst yellow corn sheltering with three chicks. The rooster on a stump with leaves. Provenance: Sotheby's, London, October 9, 1984, Lot 224; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Smaller) Height: 6 in x width: 4 in x depth: 2 1/4 in. (Larger) Height: 7 1/4 in x width: 4 1/4 in x depth: 2 1/4 in. Condition: To the smaller figurine, there is a small linear firing flaw along the base, extending upwards. Below the central chick, there is a small break to the yellow foliage. To the chick along the right, there is a small loss to the end of the tail. There is a small chip to the mother pheasant's beak. There are a few small chips to the yellow foliage. To the larger bird, there are signs of restoration to the head, particularly the left ear. There is a small chip along the beak. To the applied foliate elements, there are fleabite chips and a break to one of the leaves. To each of the figurines, there is light wear to the glaze. To each, there is light wear to the undersides, including fleabite chips.
