2 Meissen Models of Guinea Fowl ca. 1745 - Meissen, Germany. Modelled by J.J. Kandler. Group of two porcelain Guinea Fowl models, ca. 1745. Both with iron-red combs and wattles, black and gray spotted plumage, on a tree stump mound. The bases with foliage and mushrooms. Provenance: Christie's, London, ”The Nyffeler Collection of German Porcelain, ” June 9, 1986, Lot 100; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each, approx.) Height: 6 1/4 in x width: 5 in x depth: 3 in. Condition: To the larger bird, there are signs of restoration around the whole neck and to the three of the toes along the right foot. Possible restorations or inpainting to the neck of the smaller bird. To each of the figurines, there are some small chips and losses to the foliate elements and to the birds feet. To the grey bird, there is a loss to one side of the wattle that has been painted over, and small chips to the beak and other side of the wattle. Light wear to the pigment. Some wear to the underside.
