Meissen Seated Pug Model ca. 1750 - Meissen, Germany. Modelled by J.J. Kandler. Porcelain model of a seated pug dog, ca. 1750. With a green and puce ribboned collar, black and pale brown fur markings, and iron-red tongue, seated on a rectangular puce cushion decorated with sgraffito and black foliage. Traces of blue crossed swords. Provenance: Christie's, London, ”The Nyffeler Collection of German Porcelain, ” June 9, 1986, Lot 98; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 6 1/2 in x width: 5 in x depth: 3 in. Condition: There are restorations to the bow; half of the bow fluoresces under UV light. Some areas of crazing and flaking to the glaze along the bow. There is a possible minute chip to the tip of the tail, noticeable upon touch. Some wear to the pigment and the gilt along the base.
