Pr Meissen Figures of Turk & Companion ca. 1744 - Meissen, Germany. Modelled by J.J. Kandler. Pair of porcelain figures of a Turk and companion, ca. 1744. He in a tall green and brown hat with a crescent, a white cloak, yellow shirt, green cummerbund, white pantaloons, and red boots. He holds a gun and sword. She in a white hat, yellow and red tunic, puce cummerbund. Both on rockwork mound bases. Provenance: Christie's, London ”The Nyffeler Collection of German Porcelain”, June 9, 1986, Lot 67; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Man) Height: 6 1/2 in x width: 2 3/4 in x depth: 2 1/2 in. (Woman) Height: 6 1/4 in x width: 3 in x depth: 2 in. Condition: To the male figurine, there is a restoration along his right thumb, his left hand, and along the hilt of his sword. There is a small hairline crack along the right extreme edge of his cloak. To the female figurine, there are restorations to each of her hands, to the right breast, and along the extreme edges of her skirt. There is a small linear firing flaw to the woman's left shoe. There are some small rounded firing flaws, corresponding to losses to the glaze, particularly to the female figurine. To each figurine, there are small losses to the glaze. Some wear to the undersides, including small chips.
