Meissen Chinoiserie Family Group ca. 1745 - Meissen, Germany. Modelled by Peter Reinicke. Figural group depicting a family, ca. 1745. Modelled as a mustachioed gentleman looking on as his children play with a rattle and a monkey, his wife at their side. They stand upon a flower-encrusted base. Provenance: Armin B. Allen, Inc., New York, NY, October 24, 1985; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 6 1/2 in x width: 5 1/2 in x depth: 3 1/2 in. Condition: There are some chips and small losses to the fingers. Loss and repair to items that the seated child and the male figure may have been holding. Along the male figure's right arm, there is a repaired crack. Along the underside, there are a some narrow hairline cracks radiating from a drilled hole.
