Meissen Figure of Woman ca. 1850 - Meissen, Germany. A porcelain figure of a woman, ca. 1850. Modelled as a peasant woman holding a birdcage with a recumbent lamb at her feet. Marked along the underside. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 7 in x width: 3 in x depth: 2 3/4 in. Condition: There are small chips and losses to the foliate elements and to the delicate, pierced elements along the clothing. The lamb's right ear has been restored. There are two small losses along the front of the bird cage that have been painted over. Additionally, there is a minute area along the back of the woman's hat that has been painted over. Along the lower, front extreme edge of the woman's skirt, there is a vertical firing flaw. Along the base, there is a hairline crack extending downward from the lamb's tail, measuring approximately 1 inch. Along the footrim, there is a small repaired chip that has been painted over with gilt.
