Meissen Europa & Bull Figural Group ca. 1750 - Meissen, Germany. Porcelain figural group depicting Europa and the Bull with two attendants, ca. 1750. Europa clad scantily in puce-lined yellow cloth with Indianische Blumen attended by two nymphs in a puce, white and green cloth handling flowers. Blue crossed swords mark at side. Provenance: Christie's, London, ”The Nyffeler Collection of German Porcelain, ” June 9, 1986, Lot 51; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 8 1/2 in x width: 8 1/4 in x depth: 4 3/4 in. Condition: There are some minute chips and losses, primarily along the foliate elements. To the seated nymph, there is a restoration to one of the figure's legs. There is a hairline crack along the back of the yellow garment. Along the underside, there is a hairline crack and signs of restoration. Some wear to the gilt and pigment.
