Bow Figure of Gallant ca. 1765 - Bow, England. Porcelain figure of a gallant, ca. 1765. Modelled as a male dancer in a yellow jacket and pink breeches on a square rococo plinth base. Provenance: Christie's, New York, NY, ”The Christner Collection Volume IV - Important Continental and English Ceramics, ” November 30, 1979, Lot 31; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 8 in x width: 4 1/4 in x depth: 3 in. Condition: There is extensive inpainting and/or restorations to the entirety of the front and verso of the figure, both legs, and to the support element behind the figure. It is likely that, at some point, the figure became unattached from the base, and has since been restored. There is an additional restoration to the left eyebrow, and a restored break along the right side of the jacket. There are small chips along the figure's hat, extreme edges of the garments, and to the applied foliate elements. There are a few small losses to the bow along the back of the hat. Along the legs, there are small rounded firing flaws. There are signs of restoration to the feet of the base.
