From the set ”Five Senses, ” she stands in a defensive attitude protecting herself from the upturned beak of the stork at her feet while she clutches a crab to her chest. Blue crossed swords mark along the underside. Provenance: Christie's, New York, NY, ”The Christner Collection Volume IV - Important Continental and English Ceramics, ” November 30, 1979, Lot 131; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 5 1/4 in x width: 2 1/2 in depth: 2 in. Condition: The figure's right hand has been restored. There are small chips and losses to four of the fingers along the right hand. Along the woman's hair, there is a small chip that has been painted over. There is small area of inpainting along the woman's left cheek. There are signs of restoration to the back, left side of the woman's cloak. There are fleabite to small sized chips along the extreme edges of the figure's garments and to the left toes, noticeable upon touch. There is a small loss to one of the protruding leaves beneath the bird. There may be a small chip or paint loss to the very tip of the beak of the bird. There are some minute rounded firing flaws throughout. Some losses to the gilt along the base. There is a small linear firing flaw along the base.
