Pr Meissen Huntsman & Companion Figures ca. 1850 - Meissen, Germany. A pair of porcelain figures depicting a huntsman and a companion, ca. 1850. She is depicted with her apron held feeding doves at her feet; he giving his begging dog a treat. On naturalistically colored bases. Blue crossed swords marks on bases - the figure of a woman with a cancellation mark below her mark. Incised model numbers Z97 and Z75. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 10 in x width: 5 in x depth: 4 1/2 in. Condition: There are minute breaks and losses to the finest pierced elements along the extreme edges of the garments. To the larger applied elements, including the leaves along the bases, there are breaks and losses to the foliate elements. To the female figure there are areas of overspray along her forehead and shoulder. Large area of overspray to the foremost pigeon and the base, likely a restoration of a break. To the male figure, his raised hand has broken off and been reattached - overspray visible under UV light. There are small patches of overspray or touch-ups that fluoresce under UV light throughout the male figure. The tip of his coat above the dog has been restored. Light wear to the bases.
