Pr Louis XVI Wood Caned Settee Canapes - Pair of French Louis XVI window seats, settees, or canapes, 19th century. Each with a rectangular caned back, painted frames featuring carved rosettes, and reeded tapered legs, terminating in pointed feet. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 31 1/4 in x width: 46 1/4 in x depth: 18 3/4 in. Condition: The canapes are stable. There is light separation to the joints. There are small scattered breaks and losses to the caning, primarily along the extreme edges where the caning meets the wood frame. There are small losses to the pigment throughout, particularly along high points. Scattered light scuffs, scratches, and small chips throughout, primarily along high points, to the legs, and the feet. There are no tears or losses to the upholstery. Wear to the upholstery commensurate with age and use, including a few loose threads and small areas of soiling.
