Pr French Louis XVI Beechwood Armchairs - Pair of Louis XVI beechwood bergere armchairs, late 18th century. Featuring a shaped back above padded arms, cream upholstery with foliate motifs, and reeded tapered legs, decorated with carved rosettes, terminating in pointed feet. Similar in style to works by Louis Delanois (French, 1731-1792). Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each, approximately) Height: 38 1/2 in x width: 27 in x depth: 19 in. Condition: The chairs are structurally sound and stable. To one of the chairs, there are no tears or losses to the upholstery. To the other chair, there are losses and shattering to the silk along the left armrest. Along the right side of the chair's backrest, the upholstery has begun to pull away from the wooden frame. To each, there are boreholes along the wooden frame, particularly along the splat and lower rail. There are small chips and losses along the extreme edges and high points of the wooden frame. Wear to the feet and legs, including scuffs and scratches.
