Louis XV Upholstered Bergere Armchair Fauteuil - A French Louis XV bergere, armchair, or fauteuil featuring a shield-shaped back above padded downswept arms, 18th century. With light blue upholstery and fluted tapered legs decorated with carved rosettes. The frame painted a very pale blue. Provenance: Old Versailles, Inc., 1974; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 38 in x width: 26 1/2 in x depth: 20 in. Condition: The chair is structurally sound; however the chair wobbles. Light separation to the joints. There are scattered losses to the pigment throughout, particularly along the top rail, the arms, and the legs. There are several large areas of soiling to the back splat as well as the arms and the seat cushion. There are large areas of shattering to the silk along the arms and the front of the seat. Some wear to the feet.
