French Regence Beechwood Fauteuil Armchair - French Regence beechwood armchair or fauteuil, 18th century. With a shaped rectangular back, striped upholstered seat, padded armrests, and cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Provenance: Old Versailles, Inc., New York, 1974; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 34 1/2 in x width: 25 1/2 in x depth: 20 in. Condition: The chair is structurally sound and stable. There are signs of restoration to the legs, particularly where the legs attach to the base of the seat, including repaired breaks along the back left and right legs. There are scattered splits forming in the wood, primarily to the legs. Along the front left corner of the upholstered seat, there are a few small tears. There are a possible minute tear along the left armrest. There are boreholes along the wooden frame. Scattered signs of moisture exposure along the upholstered backrest and seat. Wear to the legs and feet, including small losses, scuffs, and scratches.
