Pr French Regence Oak Chaise Dining Chairs - Pair of French Regence carved oak chaises or dining chairs, 19th century. Each with a solid paneled back, and double cabriole legs joined by stretchers, terminating in scroll feet. Provenance: Erickson's, Minneapolis, MN, 1989; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 40 3/4 in x width: 18 in x depth: 16 1/2 in. Condition: The chairs are structurally sound and stable. Separation to the joints throughout. Some wear to the upholstered embroidered seat cushions, including loose threads, scattered small losses to the embroiderey, and two minute stains along the front edge of one cushion. To the wooden frames, there are small to moderate-sized losses throughout, primarily along high points and the extreme edges. To one of the chairs, along the back, upper portion of the front right leg, there is a loss and signs of restoration, specifically, there is visible residual glue adhesive and the loss appears to have been filled in or covered with an additional material. To one of the chairs, there is a small split forming in the wood. There are scuffs and scratches throughout, primarily along the seats. There are boreholes and minute losses throughout. Wear to the legs and feet commensurate with age and use, including chips, scuffs, and scratches. The cushions are not original or of the period of the chairs.
