French Empire Carved Mahogany Curule Ottoman - French Empire mahogany stool or ottoman, 19th century. Featuring a carved curule-form or X-frame base and a striped upholstered seat with tassels. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 21 in x width: 24 in x depth: 16 1/2 in. Condition: The stool is structurally sound and stable. There are no tears, losses, or stains to the upholstery. There are no major breaks or losses to the wooden frame. There are some scratches and scuffs to the wood, particularly along the rounded corners of the seat. To one of the ball-form corners, there is a possible small, rounded repaired break. Wear commensurate with age and use to the feet, including small losses to the gilt.
