Large Early 20th c. Persian Kerman Rug 16'6”x10' - Large Southeast Persian Kerman hand-knotted mansion-size rug, ca. 1930. The carpet with overall design of blossoming vines and palmettes surrounding a central medallion. Executed in pink, light blue, green, and tan wools on a cream ground; woven on cotton warp threads. Set within a similar main border and flanked by fringed upper and lower edges. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Length: 16 ft 6 in x width: 10 ft. Condition: There are no tears. The carpet is unevenly toned, primarily along the extreme edges. The pile is even. There are scattered areas of soiling. No odors or signs of insect activity present. Wear to the fringe. A few loose threads visible along the underside.
