Style John Belchier Louis XV Rococo Ormolu Mirror - Style of John Belchier (British, 1699-1753). French Louis XV gilt bronze mirror of shaped violin form, 19th century. The crest with a quatrefoil cartouche above scrolling Rococo and acanthus-form motifs. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 26 1/4 in x width: 20 1/4 in x depth: 1 1/4 in. Condition: There are no large cracks to the mirror. There are some areas of chipping along the extreme edges, visible from the verso. The mirrored panel appears newer. Tarnishing to the metal frame. There are areas of oxidation along the verso. There is an area of verdigris patination along the lower right quadrant of the verso. Dust gathered along the recessed areas.
