Pr Louis XVI Vitrine Tables ca. 1820 - Pair of Louis XVI vitrine tables, circa 1820. Each featuring a hinged rectangular beveled glass top and four glass side panels for 360-degree viewing. Display area along the interior lined with a rich red velvet. Standing on four square-shaped tapering legs joined by a medial shelf lined with gilt-metal along the perimeter. With gilt-metal sabot terminals along the feet. Provenance: Belgravia House, New York, March 21, 1966; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each, approximately) Height: 29 1/2 in x width: 22 1/4 in x depth: 15 in. Condition: One of the vitrines is structurally sound and stable; the other wobbles when weight is applied. To each, there are no cracks, chips, or losses to the glass. There are light scratches and accretions along the glass. Each of the vitrines opens and closes with ease. Wear to the velvet along the interior of the vitrines, including areas of threadbareness, discoloration, and small tears. To the wooden frames, there are no breaks or losses. Along the wooden surfaces, there are some small accretions. There is light separation to the joints. There is tarnishing to the metal hardware. To one of the vitrines, there is a small split in the wood along the upper portion of the back, right leg. To each, there are light scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and use, particularly along the legs and feet. Keys not included.
