Louis XV Kingwood Kidney Occasional Table - Louis XV kingwood kidney-shaped occasional, writing, salon, or side table, 18th century. Featuring a central tambour accordion shutter door, inlaid floral marquetry, and six drawers. Atop cabriole legs terminating in sabots. Provenance: Old Versailles Inc., New York, 1974; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 28 1/4 in x width: 22 in x depth: 13 3/4 in. Condition: The table is structurally sound and stable. There is a break to the tambour accordian door; the first six panels on the door move with ease, however, the remaining portion of the door is stuck along the interior. The majority of the drawers open and close with ease, however, the central double drawer is unable to open fully due to the location of the tambour accordian door. There are scattered splits and cracks to the wood, primarily along the joints. There are no losses to the inlay. There is crazing to the wood finish. There are areas of flaking to the wood. Wear to the legs and feet commensurate with age and use, including areas of verdigris patination along the metal feet.
