French Mahogany Fold-Over Extendable Card Table - French mahogany extendable card or game table, 18th-19th century. With a hinged fold-over cream leather table top surface and tapered legs terminating in ball-form feet. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 28 1/2 in x width: 32 in x depth: 32 in. Condition: The table wobbles. Warping to the wood; the two legs extend and retract with resistance. There are several large splits spanning the length of the table along the underside. There are several boreholes and minut losses to the skirt. Separation to the joints. There is evidence of past repair and areas of residual toned glue along the edges and corners of the underside of the table. The leather has been repaired and the top has been refinished. Wear to the table surface including brittleness to the leather, large areas of crackling along the center, consistent with being folded, and losses to the gilt accents along the border. Uneven toning to the table surface. Signs of moisture exposure along the table surface. Some wear to the feet.
