19th c. Louis XVI Occasional Kingwood Table - Louis XVI occasional kingwood table with a marble top, 19th century. Marble top of kidney-shape featuring a rich, red ground with large white and grey veins throughout; with a three-quarter pierced brass gallery along the perimeter. Featuring intricate geometric inlays, a cameo of oval form decorated with a relief of a woman, and three drawers flanked by gilt bronze mounts along the apron. Standing on four cabriole legs with brass sabot terminals along the feet. Provenance: Lane Antiques, New York, 1965; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 29 1/4 in x width: 22 1/2 in x depth: 13 in. Condition: The table wobbles when weight is applied. The drawers open and close with ease. There is a repaired crack along the marble table top, measuring approximately 11 inches. Light scratches to the marble and fleabite chips along the extreme edges of the surface, particularly noticeable along the front of the table where the metal rim is bent slightly forward. The metal rim along the table's surface is not securely affixed to the table top. Some tarnishing to the gilt metal mounts. There are small chips and losses, primarily along the extreme edges and along the drawers. There is slight separation to the joints. There are some splits to the wood. There are small, scattered holes, possibly the result of past insect activity, primarily along the back of the table. The gilt metal hardware along each of the front legs is not securely affixed. There are no cracks or losses to the cameo. Wear to the legs and feet commensurate with age and use, including small scuffs and scratches
