French Louis XV Wood Marquetry & Marble Side Table - French Louis XV wooden side table, night stand, or table de nuit, 19th century. Featuring a verigated marble table top, three drawers, and inlaid floral marquetry along the drawers and sides. Atop cabriole legs joined by a medial shelf. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 28 in x width: 16 3/4 in x depth: 10 1/2 in. Condition: The table wobbles. Each of the drawers opens and closes smoothly. There are no cracks to the marble table top. There are fleabite to moderately-sized chips along the extreme edges of the marble top. Along the upper portion of the front right leg, specifically where the leg attaches the underside of the drawers, there is visible glue adhesive. There is a possible repaired break along the lower portion of the front left leg; this area appears uneven and has been refinished. There are scattered areas of refinishing throughout, particularly along the front legs, to the inlaid elements, and where the joints meet. Along the upper portion of the front left leg, there are is a vertical crack that extends upward from the top of the leg approximately 3 inches. To the upper portion of the legs, specficially near where the legs meet the underside of the drawers, there are horizontal cracks. There is a large horizontal crack along the right side of the table; the crack measures approximately 7 inches. Along the verso of the table, there are two vertical cracks; one near the back left leg and the other near the back right leg, each extends upward from the extreme bottom edge of the drawers approximately 5 inches. There are small losses and areas of flaking to the wood, particularly along the verso and underside of the table. Some separation to the joints. Small chips and light scratches throughout, particularly along the legs and feet. Along the lower level of the table, there is a loss to the metal element along the right side; the element is present, however, it has become detached from the table. The metal elements along each of the front legs are loose. A key is not present.
