French Louis XVI Kingwood Parquetry Side Table - French Louis XVI occasional kingwood side table, nightstand, or table de nuit with inlaid parquetry, 19th century. Featuring applied gilt metal foliate mounts, a central drawer, and tapered legs joined by a medial shelf. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 29 in x diameter: 18 1/4 in. Condition: The table wobbles. The front left leg is detached from the top section of the table; however, it remains attached to the lower tier. The drawer opens and closes smoothly. There is a horizontal split and loss along the interior of the drawer, spanning the width of the drawer. There are scattered small losses to the inlay. There is some warping to the wood; the writing surface opens and closes with slight resistance. There are splits forming in the wood, particularly along the edges of the surface. Along the lower tier of the table, there is a large split forming along the center of the checkered inlaid element. There is separation to the joints. Small scattered areas of flaking to the wood. Tarnishing to the metal elements. The metal element along the front left leg is slightly loose. A key and four metal elements, which were likely once attached to the table's feet, are housed within the drawer.
