5 Neoclassical Carved Yellow Marble Pedestals - Set of five Neoclassical variegated yellow marble pedestals, 19th-20th century. Possibly carved from Sienna marble. Each with circular top above a fluted rim and reeded, tapering shaft. Surmounted atop stepped circular plinths. Each with inset stone along the socle surface. Provenance: Christie's, New York, NY, ”The C. Ruxton and Audrey B. Love Collection: Important European Furniture, Antiquities and Asian Works of Art, ” October 20, 2004, Lot 361; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each, approximately) Height: 45 1/2 in x diameter: 15 1/2 in. Each weighs in excess of 300 lbs. Condition: The pedestals are structurally sound; however, a few of the pedestals wobble slightly. There are small to large chips and losses, primarily along high points and the extreme edges of the pedestals. There are scattered cracks and signs of repair; to one of the pedestals, there are significant repairs to a vertical area along the mid-section of the pedestal. To each of the pedestals' upper surfaces, there is a circular area of textured unevenness to the marble and accretions, possibly from residual adhesives. To two of the pedestals, there are partial residual paper labels along the upper surface; one of the pedestals with residual tape adhesive along the surface. Scuffs and scratches throughout, particularly along the upper surfaces and the footrims. One plinth with a cracked base.
