Pr French Louis XV Gilt Bronze Figural Chenets - Style of Jacques Caffieri (French, 1678-1755). Pair of French Louis XV ormolu chenets, andirons, or firedogs, 18th century. With figural mounts atop Rocaille or Rococo scrollwork bases adorned with foliate motifs. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Each) Height: 15 1/2 in x width: 13 in x depth: 21 1/2 in. Condition: There are no major breaks or bends. The figures are newer. To the chenet with the female figurine, the flower element above the figure is loose; the element is secured, however is also able to move horizontally. To each of the figures, there are scattered losses to the gilt. Scattered areas of tarnishing and white accretions, particularly along recessed areas. To each of the chenets, there are small areas of verdigris patination. Dust and light debris gathered along recessed areas.
