Pr 19th c. Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Andirons - Pair of Louis XV style gilt-bronze andirons, ca. 19th century. Each of a scrolling form surmounted by an acanthus leaf, joined by an associated gilt-bronze fender. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. (Andirons, each) Height: 17 in x width: 10 1/2 in x depth: 21 1/2 in. (Center Panel) Height: 5 1/4 in x width: 22 in x depth: 1 in. Condition: There are no major breaks. There is a bend along the upper left corner of the central panel. There are areas of unevenness and wear along the extreme edges, commensurate with age, use, and material. There are areas of pitting throughout. Accretions along the recessed areas. Oxidation throughout rear posts and screws to which the andirons are affixed to. There are two areas of verdigris patination: one area along one of the recessed ovoid regions along the right half of the center panel, the second area along the curved rail connecting the andiron to the rear post.
