French Victorian Chateau Wrought Iron Candlestand - French Victorian Renaissance Chateauesque wrought iron candlestand fire screen or fireplace surround, 19th century. With a central scrolling bracket supporting four graduated planter or candlestick holders atop scrolling downswept legs. The lower arms hinged to allow for an 'open' or 'closed' appearance. Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 49 in x width: 42 in x depth: 15 in. Condition: The plant stand is structurally sound and stable. There are no major breaks or bends. The dynamic branching elements along the mid-section of the plant stand rotate smoothly. The larger bobeche-like cups along each end of the plant stand are secured, however, they are loose. There are scattered losses to the pigment, primarily along high points and to the feet, areas of oxidation, and accretions.
