Bouchet Freres Empire Gilt Bronze Mantle Clock - Bouchet Freres, France. French Empire ormolu mantle clock, 19th century. Depicting Greek deities Apollo and Aphrodite beside a putti figure representing their son Cupid. The central circular dial set within a rectangular case decorated with Neoclassical motifs atop a stepped rectangular base terminating in flattened ball feet. The dial signed ”Buchet Freres a Paris.” Provenance: The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. Height: 23 1/2 in x width: 17 1/2 in x depth: 7 1/4 in. Condition: There is a loss to the circular panel along the verso of the clock, exposing the clock mechanism. The putti figure atop the clock has become detached from the peg along the man's left hand; the putti is still affixed to the clock by his foot and staff, however, the figure wobbles. There are light bends to each of the clock hands. Tarnishing throughout. Oxidation along the screws. Not tested for time or functionality. Dust gathered along the recessed areas.
