Pr Meissen Mini Baluster Vases ca. 1730 - Meissen, Germany. Pair of miniature porcelain baluster vases, ca. 1730. Painted by I.E. Stadler with Chinoiserie figures standing on rockwork in fenced gardens with flowering Indianische Blumen. Blue crossed swords mark. With later French silver-gilt covers. Provenance: Dr. Franz and Margarethe Oppenheimer; sold to Fritz Mannheimer ca. 1938; sold in 1940 by estate of Mannheimer to Kajetan Muhlmann (head of unrealized Fuhrermuseum project) before being recovered by Allies at the end of WWII and given to the care of The Netherlands' Stichting Nederlands Kunstbezit; sold at auction by Frederik Muller & Co., Amsterdam, 1952; Christie's, London, ”The Nyffeler Collection of German Porcelain, ” June 9, 1986, Lot 178; The Distinguished Collection of Leo & Doris Hodroff. The auction of these vases is taking place as part of a fair and just solution reached between Revere Auctions and the Oppenheimer heirs, in accordance with the Washington Principles on German WWII-confiscated art. (Each) Height: 5 in x diameter: 2 1/2 in. Condition: To each of the vases, there are no cracks. There are some losses to the gilt, particularly along the rims. A few fleabite chips along the rim. There is some tarnishing to the metal lids. Along the interior rim of the lids, there is a ring of residual adhesive. Some wear to the footrims.
