Nicolaes de Bruyn ”Aqua” Engraving - Nicolaes de Bruyn (Flemish, 1571-1656) and Maerten de Vos (Flemish, 1532-1603). Engraving on paper titled ”Aqua.” Depicting the element of water personified as a nude woman sitting near a well, with water flowing from her breasts and large shell. Decorative border filled with various creatures associated with water, including fish, otters, seals, turtles, and birds. Sight; height: 7 in x width: 8 1/2 in. Framed; height: 15 1/4 x width: 16 3/4 in x depth: 1 1/4 in. Condition: The colors are bold and deep. There are tears along the extreme edges of the work. There is a vertical crease along the lower half. The sheet is toned. Some areas of foxing and soiling throughout. Some undulation to the sheet. Floated in frame atop a woven mat. Framed under glass. Light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
