Oil on canvas painting titled ”The Andernach Tower.” Depicting the Round Tower of Andernach, Germany, in the background and a woman fetching water from the city well in the foreground. Illegible carving along the verso to one of the stretcher bars. Unframed; height: 15 in x width: 12 in. Framed; height: 21 1/2 in x width: 18 1/2 in x depth: 3 1/2 in. Condition: The painting has been relined. Due to a thickly applied and toned varnish, it is difficult to ascertain if the work has been compromised. There are areas throughout that fluoresce under UV light, indicating restoration. Wear along the extreme edges of the canvas.
