Lowell Nesbitt ”Nocturnal Parrot Tulip” Painting - Lowell Nesbitt (American, 1933-1993). Oil on canvas painting titled ”Nocturnal Parrot Tulip, ” 1981. Depicting a dramatic, stylized tulip flower in shades of blue and purple against a black ground. Signed, titled, dated, and painted ”New York” along the verso. Nesbitt served as the official artist for NASA during the Apollo 9 and Apollo 13 space missions. However, his most celebrated and noted artworks are his series of more than four hundred floral paintings rendered is realistic form.
